Five Ways to Make Content Creation Easier

Do you ever feel like having to constantly come up with new, creative ideas to engage with your audience is like a never-ending hamster wheel? Do you open up your social media app only to stare blankly at your feed, wondering what you should post next? Have you ever wondered how some content creators seem to come up with content effortlessly day after day, week after week? If you answered YES to any of these questions, you’re in the right place, friend.

Content creation is often a major part of online businesses. Showing up on social media, on your blog, or even through your email list consistently is so important in helping your audience know, like, and trust you, but the constant idea generation for content can feel like a never-ending grind.

When it comes to creating content, the less random and more methodical and intentional you can be, the better. Having a plan not only helps you stick to it and put content out regularly, but it helps you put the right content out so you can grow your business by reaching your ICA (ideal customer avatar) with the right messaging. Here are five strategies for building and sharing consistent, engaging, and on-brand content.

1. Pick3-5 themes that are central to your business and your business’s values. Your audience should know why they follow you and know what to expect from you, and these themes will give you a framework to help you create content that is aligned with you. This consistency will also help you establish yourself as an expert in your niche. Some examples of these themes that we use in our own business are working motherhood, entrepreneurship, career pivots, and core value alignment.

2. Pick your platforms and stay consistent in showing up there. It’s easy to have whiplash when it comes to where you want to meet your community - Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, Pinterest…the options are endless, and you may feel like you should be showing up everywhere. Instead, we recommend picking a couple (like 1-2, seriously) to show up on consistently and focus on delivering amazing content there before considering jumping into a new one. This is truly a matter of quality over quantity.

3. Use storytelling to create compelling content. Storytelling is vulnerable and it connects you with your audience. This can actually be some of the easiest content to create because you know your own stories. The best part? They are unique to YOU, so you don’t have to stress about your competition when you leverage this type of content. People connect with people, and people buy from people.

4. Utilize batching for efficiency in time and energy. Batching is a strategy where you work on a group of similar tasks all in one sitting, whether it’s social media posts, emails, or even podcast script writing. By sticking with one task for a chunk of time, your mind is able to conserve energy from not hopping from task to task, and you also increase your ability to get into your flow state, which can boost creativity AND efficiency.

5. Analyze data to guide future content creation. Likes and comments only tell part of the story. Yes, it’s important to see what resonates with your audience, but checking out which posts from your account get shared the most is crucial, because that’s how you get new eyes on your business. It’s also a good idea to try different types of posts more than once - sometimes it can take your audience a couple tries to connect with a new type of content.

Don’t let the grind of content creation prevent you from showing up and connecting with your community consistently. Stick to your themes, focus on quality over quantity, use your own personal stories, try out batching, and analyze your data to keep your business moving forward.

In Episode 52 of our podcast, we dive even deeper into each of these five strategies and give you tangible examples of how they can be used right away in your own business in various platforms.
